Did you know that a tooth implant is the most advanced form of tooth replacement available today? Dental implants are changing the way people replace missing teeth, offering a permanent and natural-looking solution to tooth loss. With implant dentistry from Inspira Dental Care, you don’t have to compromise on your smile and can feel confident that the same dental team will be taking care of you from diagnosis to the implant procedure itself.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone, replacing the root of a missing tooth. It serves as an anchor for a new artificial tooth, such as a crown or bridge or to secure implant dentures.

At Inspira Dental Care, implant dentistry is more than a tooth replacement option – it’s an investment in your smile that can last a lifetime. Our implant surgeons use the latest technology and techniques to provide superior results with minimal discomfort and recovery time. From replacing a single tooth with a crown placed on the implant, and multiple teeth with implant-secured bridges, to a full arch of implant dentures, Inspira Dental Care can help you restore your smile.

Benefits of Tooth Implants

When it comes to tooth implant benefits, the list is long and varied. Not only are dental implants extremely natural-looking, but they also:

  • Provide good oral health and stability
  • Improve your ability to eat and chew comfortably
  • Are an investment in your smile that can last a lifetime with proper care
  • Provide a permanent solution to tooth loss with little maintenance required
  • Help you preserve the jawbone, preventing it from deteriorating after tooth loss
  • Look and feel like natural teeth, providing greater confidence in your appearance

The most organized team of professionals I’ve ever met from the front desk (Dani) to Dr. Hannah. I had an implant put in on 12.13.2023 and it turned out better than I imagined.

The Dental Implant Process

At Inspira Dental Care, implant dentistry is tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient. The implant process begins with an initial consultation and x-ray to determine if dental or tooth implants are right for you. If implant dentistry is the right option for you, we’ll conduct a CT scan to obtain a detailed 3D image of your teeth and jaw, which allows our dentist to create a precise plan for the implant procedure. We then create a surgical guide that shows the exact location and angle for the implants.

After working to establish the plan for the procedure, our dental surgeons will implant the posts into your jawbone. If there is not enough bone to support the implant our team is capable of performing bone grafts and sinus lifts. Once osseointegration – a process where the implant and bone fuse together – occurs, we can begin to attach the new tooth or teeth to the implant post. This typically takes several months, though the implantation process can be done in a single visit.

Compared to other processes such as bridges or dentures, implant dentistry is considered a more cost-effective and permanent solution. This is because implant-secured teeth are not prone to staining and wear like other tooth replacement options. Be it a tooth implant or implant dentures, implant dental solutions from Inspira Dental Care are reliable and should require minimal care and maintenance beyond regular checkups and cleanings.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

At Inspira Dental Care, implant dentistry is an investment in your smile that can last a lifetime. While the short-term cost of implant dentistry may be higher than other tooth replacement options, the final cost of implant dentistry is determined by many factors, such as the type and number of implant posts needed. And, since implant dentistry is a permanent, long-lasting solution, you could pay less in terms of replacements or maintenance over the lifetime of your implants. We provide patients with a detailed estimate of implant dentistry costs before treatment begins.

Other options such as not replacing the tooth and dentures are cheaper than implants but can lead to negative repercussions down the road. One such problem is bone loss, which can completely reshape the structure of your face over time. With an implant the force of chewing continues to stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone tissue from being reabsorbed by your body.

Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?

Most people are candidates for implant dentistry, but certain characteristics make someone an ideal candidate. Generally speaking, you’re more likely to be a good implant candidate if you:

  • Have good overall oral health
  • Are healthy enough for minor surgery
  • Have sufficient jawbone density and growth potential (even if you don't we can perform bone grafts and sinus lifts)
  • Don’t have a medical condition that could negatively affect implant success
  • Are committed to regular dental visits and proper implant maintenance

Tooth Replacement Options

dentures

When considering tooth replacement options, there are multiple options to suit your unique situation and budget. A popular method of replacing teeth is with dentures, which can replace a single tooth or multiple teeth. Dentures are typically removable prosthetic devices that can be taken in and out of the mouth.

Advantages

  • They are an affordable option
  • They provide a natural-looking solution
  • They can be easily removed and cleaned

Disadvantages

  • They can be uncomfortable and require frequent adjustments to fit properly
  • They are not considered permanent solutions to tooth loss as they may need to be replaced periodically
  • They are not as secure as other replacement options, which can lead to slipping and embarrassing moments

Dental implants

Another popular option for tooth replacement is dental implants. Dental implants involve surgically placing a titanium post into the jawbone that acts as an artificial tooth root. This post is then covered with a prosthetic denture, bridge, or crown, depending on the patient’s individual needs.

Advantages

  • They are considered a permanent solution to tooth replacement
  • They can offer improved chewing function and better appearance than dentures
  • Implants provide a more secure fit compared to dentures, preventing slipping or embarrassing moments
  • Dental implants help to preserve the jawbone, preventing it from being reabsorbed by the body over time. This also supports the health of the surrounding teeth

Disadvantages

  • They are a more expensive option than dentures or bridges
  • Dental implants may not be suitable for those with weakened jawbones due to medical conditions or advanced age

Bridges

Bridges are another tooth replacement option that may be appropriate for some patients. Bridges involve the placement of an artificial denture, anchored to two healthy teeth to fill in the gap caused by a missing tooth.

Advantages

  • Bridges can provide a natural-looking smile
  • They can provide improved chewing function
  • Lower upfront costs

Disadvantages

  • They typically have to be replaced within 5-7 years
  • Tooth decay and cavities can occur within surrounding teeth

Flippers

Flippers are a type of denture that offer another tooth replacement option. They fit similarly to a retainer and have one or more teeth attached to create the appearance of a full smile.

Advantages

  • They are a quick solution for replacing missing teeth
  • They can provide a natural-looking smile in the short term
  • They are removable, making them easy to clean and care for

Disadvantages

  • They are not permanent solutions and may need to be replaced or adjusted over time
  • They can be uncomfortable and require frequent adjustments for a secure fit
  • Flipper dentures can interfere with eating and speaking, due to their lack of stability

Not replacing the tooth is another option, but this should be considered a last resort. The major disadvantage of not replacing a missing tooth is that the gap can cause misalignment of the teeth, making it difficult to chew properly and resulting in an unnaturally spaced smile. It can also cause the jawbone to weaken over time.
